Our Out of School Club meets in the halls of Killermont Church in Rannoch Drive in Bearsden and provides care for up to 40 children each day. Staff collect children from Killermont Primary School at 3pm each day and the club is open until 6pm. On most school holidays and in-service days, (with the exception of public holidays), the club is open from 8.45am - 6pm. Children from other schools are also welcome to attend, although we cannot collect them from school.

Sometimes there is insufficient demand for the club during some holidays, however, a full and comprehensive consultation with parents is carried out before a decision to close the club is taken.

The children are actively involved in much of the planning and decision making in the club and particularly enjoy planning the healthy snack menu.

Activities

Our large sports hall is can easily accomodate a wide variety of activities, and we have direct access into the local park, where we spend as much time as possible.

With staff support, the children plan the activities on offer every day which may include :-

Arts & crafts - painting, card making, jewellery making, Hama beads. Children have access to many craft books for ideas. Imaginative play - dolls & prams, train set, action figures, dressing up. Construction - Lego, K'Nex Baking Physical play - football, badminton, parachute games, team games, rounders, basketball Table top and board games Music & dance - CD player, dance mat, karaoke Technology - computer, playstation, TV, DVD and video

Although a variety of activities are offered each day, anyone can ask for something else to go out - and it will!!

During the school summer holidays we operate a summer club from 8.45am till 6.00pm each day. During this time there are two or three trips each week to local areas of interest in Glasgow. and the surrounding area. Previous trips have included visits to The Tall ship, the Science Centre, the Imax, Victoria, Kelvingrove and Mugdock parks, The Peoples Palace, the Kings Theatre, the cinema and many others. On other days the children may participate in arts & crafts, baking or sports and team games amongst various other activities, most of which are listed above.
