Our nurseries and out of school care services are happy environments where friendships are fostered and children have fun. Children are at the very heart of what we do every day and we offer a caring and loving atmosphere where children are happy and we all enjoy learning together.

Step by Step Nurseries have been providing childcare in Glasgow since January 1998, and have two nurseries and an out of school club in the west of Scotland. Our after school club also provides full day care during most school holiday periods.

Since day one our first priority has been the children’s happiness and our second, peace of mind for the children’s parents and carers. This is achieved with love, lots of cuddles and laughter too.

All of our services are regulated and inspected by Care Inspectorate Scotland and work closely with local authorities. Our nurseries both offer government funded pre-school education, from August 2020 this will be 1140 hours for each child.  With registration there are regular inspections of our services and our nurseries are also inspected by HMIe. We are also members of the National Day Nurseries Association and Early Years Scotland.

Our highly motivated and dedicated staff teams are carefully selected and childcare staff are all registered with the Scottish Social Services Council. Our company and our staff are all committed to staff development at all levels. Our staff continue to study to achieve qualifications in both further education and higher education ranging from SVQ level 3 to Masters in Childhood Practice. Throughout the year staff will also complete professional development courses including Paediatric First Aid and Child Development.

Our balanced learning experiences for children are designed to offer a variety of fun and development opportunities, with plenty of time for cuddles and love. We encourage child led learning through “in the moment” planning, this enables children to become engaged in their individual learning through their own interests.

You are very welcome to come and visit our services and we will be delighted to show you around and talk to you more in depth about our service and your individual requirements for care. Please do give us a call to arrange a visit.

Forest Schools

All of our services offer Forest School activities with fully qualified Forest School trained staff. This is a very exciting experience for children having fun outdoors, learning life skills and opportunity to visit woodland areas with a sense of adventure.  There are many benefits to Forest School activities, the children enjoy being outside in park spaces, they have a sense of freedom and fun.  Activities take place in all weathers, the exception being high wind or thunderstorms.  Children have fun with mud, building fires, making dens and searching for mini beasts.  There are also occasions when children are problem solving and building resilience with tasks they find challenging, our caring staff are always there to lend a caring hand.

Parental Involvement

Parental involvement is encouraged; we do understand that some families can participate with services more than others. However, there are many opportunities to engage in the life of each of our settings. These range from joining Paediatric First Aid Training for parents, to joining us on outings, attending parent workshops, or simply by making your views heard by completing questionnaires. We consult with parents regularly to ensure that you (along with your child) play a main part in directing all developments in each setting.

We use emails as a main method to communicate with you, but also incorporate other formats such as a closed Facebook Page and through our parent app “Parent Zone”. Your child’s key worker, staff members and each member o the management team are available in person to discuss all aspects of Step by Step life with you too.

First Aid and Defibrillators

The majority of staff in each of our services holds a current Paediatric First Aid Certificate.  Each service also has a Defibrillator accessible in the building.  For parents this is reassuring that staff will be able to act promptly with any accident or incident.  Parents also have the opportunity to attend Paediatric First Aid courses with Step by Step.
