Maryhill
Our Maryhill nursery opened in March 2005 and while we are registered for up to 70 children, we try to keep our numbers a bit lower as we feel that is better for the children. The baby suite has three rooms, each specifically designed to meet the needs of a small group of children in a particular age range. Our large 2-5 year room is
carefully designed to deliver a challenging programme to meet all the new requirements of the Curriculum for Excellence. We are able to offer flexible childcare places to meet the needs of working families. Please contact us to arrange a visit or to discuss your childcare needs.
Baby Rooms 1 and 2
Both these rooms are designed to meet the needs of the younger babies. Both rooms offer a natural, heuristic and calming atmosphere and care for no more than six children each session. This to build a good, stable relationship with your baby’s whole family. The equipment in these rooms is varied and ideal to allow the key workers to provide a comfortable and familiar environment for your baby’s physical and emotional needs.
For your young baby we endeavour to maintain their home routine to ease the transition into nursery, whilst slowly introducing the nursery daily routine. The children regularly go out for walks to enjoy the fresh air and become aware of the local area.
Baby Room 3
This is when the fun really begins. Catering for up to 11 toddlers. This room is bright and spacious allowing for both quiet and more active and energetic play. At this stage we offer many new experiences for your child to aid sensory, physical, cognitive, creative, emotional and social development. With all these fun activities on offer please remember that your child will get messy and may need a change of clothes daily.
The children have access to the outdoors on a regular basis in our secure, all weather garden or on local walks. The toddlers enjoy visiting the "happy park" and the Botanic Gardens
.
2-5 Year Room
The fact that a number of our staff are trained to degree level and several are participating in post qualification training, means that our research and practice are at the cutting edge. Our innovative approach to learning in our ‘Learning Zones’ was commended at our recent HMIe inspection. The children have access to a variety of different play settings that allow each child to explore and learn in the way that suits them best. More information on ‘Active learning in the early years, can be found by clicking here. The staff provide a variety of challenging activities daily and take into account individual children's needs. Access to our secure all weather outdoor play area is close by and the children make good use of this facility most days.
The children enjoy becoming familiar with the daily routine of the room and have fun taking part in ring games, story time and free play. When taking part in activities children can get messy (even with aprons on), and we suggest you send a least one change of clothes with your child.
The nursery enjoys regular visits to the local library and from other agencies within the community including the Fire Brigade and Police. We enjoy having Susan our music teacher visit us weekly, when we take part in music and movement.
Pre School - Maryhill
We offer a wide, varied and challenging 3-5 curriculum following local guidelines and work closely with Glasgow City Council to make sure we take advantage of their knowledge and resources to the very best for the children. The play experiences on offer will aid your child's physical, cognitive, communication & language, social & emotional development. The children have free access to a computer and other IT equipment and take part in a huge range of activities to give them new opportunities and experiences and to encourage their developing understanding of the world they live in.
We encourage independence and the children select their own breakfast and snack. We encourage the children to dress themselves and make individual choices throughout the day. We would ask that you provide your child with a change of clothes every day, just in case they get messy.
Our Partnership agreement with Glasgow City Council my mean that some of your child’s time at nursery is funded for you, we will be happy to discuss this with you.
