Babies are children up to the age of two years. We care for them in gentle, loving and caring environments. Your baby will have a variety of multi-sensory experiences to extend and develop his or her concept of the world.
Our dedicated and experienced staff will meet their every need. Staff stimulate the babies by providing a variety of sensory experiences which link to our curriculum that is specifically designed for babies. There are four aspects of this curriculum which celebrate the competence of babies and young children and highlight the interrelationship between growth, learning, development and the environment in which they are cared for and educated. These four aspects are :-
A Strong Child
A Skilful Communicator
A Competent Learner
A Healthy Child
For more information on the 0-3 Curriculum click here to visit their website or speak to your baby’s key worker or their supervisor who will be happy to discuss our programme.
Each child in a Step by Step nursery has key worker. She will provide most of your baby's care and both you and your baby will have a close relationship with your key worker. We will share the pleasure of watching your child develop and learn and will welcome your expertise on your child's routine. Your child's key worker will complete a daily diary for you; detailing feeds, sleep times, general behaviour and what activities your baby took part in. You will then have a permanent record of his or her time at nursery.
Each of our nurseries has a special area for babies who can walk. Here the babies can move around independently in a safe and secure environment. There is plenty of room for messy play and for the children to eat together. The children are encouraged to seek their own identity and are encouraged to start on the path of independence.
Whenever possible, staff will take the children out of doors, either to play in the garden, to visit the park or to visit other local areas of interest. As well as having lots of fresh air, your child will become more aware of the world around them.
